Betty Daily
Artist Profile
Betty has been passionate about all forms of art from a very early age. Originally from Ohio, in grade school she would consistently win awards for her work and in high school in Michigan, she won an art scholarship to Michigan State University. The medium she first explored was oil painting and gouche along with developing her sketching skills. In her early twenties, she found that acrylic painting gave her the flexibility she had been looking for and for many years was successful at exhibiting and selling at various shows.
She continued her self directed, independent study with Diane Maxey. At he the same time she was taking classes from Glendale Community College in graphic design. This led to taking a position running the art department of a local printer. However, graphic design did not allow her the freedom and spontaneity that she desired. She began taking watercolor classes and knew she had found HER medium. "I love the not quite knowing how it will come out as all of the colors dance on the page. You have so much magic that happens! I feel blessed to be able to do this work. Betty's work consists primarily of landscapes, both the small leaves on the forest floor and the wide vistas of mountains using both to convey mood and transport the viewer to another place or time.
