Artist Statement

As a young girl I always loved to roam the hills and fields, watching the butterflies and marveling at nature. And so it is to this day as I love to recreate for the viewer my memories of beauty at it's most basic. I paint the bright petals of flowers, dark mossy greens and the many textures of the world around us. I hope to connect with the viewer and give them a quiet place in a world of busy, a place to stop and enjoy the beauty. I sometimes do this with loose washes full of color, but also enjoy a more illustrative style layering in detail. I let the painting tell me what direction to go.
